Hawthorn Flower is a flower that grows on Hawthorns (Crataegus), also known as Quickthorns and Thornapples. It is native to the temperate areas of Europe, Asia, and North America.

Common Hawthorn trees can be very old, with some of them dating as back as the third century.

This flower has various benefits due to its antioxidant, anticoagulant, and possibly anti-inflammatory properties. 

It is a white flower that is characterised by a lightly bitter and pungent flavour.

The folklore surrounding Hawthorn is very interesting. In old Irish culture, it has been associated with fertility and it was kept close by women to attract men.

The Hawthorn tree was often seen as a symbol of protection and love in ancient Celtic culture. It was thought that fairies lived under Hawthorns and these trees were strongly respected for this reason.

Yet brides were allowed to collect Hawthorn flowers for their bouquet and to wear Hawthorn sprigs and flowers.

Hawthorn has also been used as a medicinal plant for centuries. It was considered a herbal remedy by both the ancient Greeks and native American tribes.
